Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 6, 2025
Our Privacy Promise
Guardian is built on a simple principle: your privacy is non-negotiable.
We never see your data. We never track your behavior. We never upload anything to the cloud.
What Data Guardian Processes
Guardian processes chat messages locally on your device to detect online grooming and predatory behavior. All processing happens in your browser. Nothing leaves your computer.
What Guardian Stores
- Encrypted Evidence: When Guardian detects suspicious behavior, it seals evidence using AES-256-GCM encryption. This evidence is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and can only be unlocked with your PIN.
- User PIN: Your PIN is never stored in plaintext. Guardian uses PBKDF2 (210,000 iterations) to derive a device key from your PIN.
- Recovery Code: A recovery code is generated during onboarding and stored only on your device.
What Guardian Does NOT Do
- ❌ Upload data to external servers
- ❌ Share information with third parties
- ❌ Track your browsing history
- ❌ Collect analytics or telemetry
- ❌ Require account creation
- ❌ Sync data across devices
Permissions Explained
Storage: Required to store encrypted evidence locally (localStorage).
Host Permissions: Required to monitor conversations on Discord, Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Guardian only accesses these platforms—no other websites.
Your Rights
- You can delete all Guardian data at any time using the "Nuke Reset" feature.
- You can uninstall Guardian and all data will be permanently removed.
- You control the PIN—we never have access to it.
